Michelson, Albert
(1852-1931)
   American physicist, of East Prussian origin. Born in Strelno, Germany, he went to the US at the age of three. His family moved to Nevada, and he studied at the US Naval Academy. He became an instructor in science there and later professor of physics at Case School of Applied Science in Cleveland, and later at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts. Subsequently he was professor of physics at the University of Chicago. In 1907 he received the Nobel Prize in Physics.
